At Our Ladys, we understand the importance of creating a learning environment where our students feel safe to take risks, ask questions, problem solve and have-a-go. These are just some of the ingredients for success in our Mathematics program, where we endeavour to ignite curiosity in our students to explore the mathematical world around them.
Our Mathematics program is organised around the three content strands of the Victorian Curriculum;
- Number and Algebra
- Measurement and Geometry
- Statistics and Probability
From Prep to Level Six, our students participate in our mathematics lessons daily. Where possible, mathematics is also integrated across other areas of the curriculum, including STEM and Concept Based Learning (CBL).
At each level, our students are given the opportunity to develop their mathematical skills and knowledge in targeted teaching groups. Our students then work collaboratively, in mixed ability groups, to solve a variety of open-tasks, that often reflect real life situations.
