Building a Love of Reading & Writing
At Ringwood School we teach English at each student’s individual point of need. We aim to provide our students with the skills necessary to thrive in an ever-changing world.
English
At Our Lady’s, the study of English is fundamental to the learning and development of our students across all areas of their education. Through the teaching and learning of English, our students strive to become confident communicators, imaginative thinkers and informed citizens.
Our English program is organised around the three language modes as set out in the Victorian Curriculum:
- Reading
- Writing
- Speaking and Listening
From Prep to Level Six, English lessons occur daily through explicit teaching and collaborative practices and through integration and application across the curriculum. Students are given opportunities to listen to, discuss, read, view and write a wide variety of texts with increasing complexity. They learn to analyse, understand, communicate and build relationships with others and the world around them.
Through our English program at Our Lady’s, students are supported to maximise their literacy development to successfully engage in the world now and in the future.
